About This Course

Financial statements report the financial performance and position of a business. Having a thorough understanding of the financial implications of business decisions as a manager in your organisation can help the business thrive and maximise shareholder returns. This course will help you to grasp basic accounting concepts and effectively apply your analytical skills to interpreting various information embedded within financial statements to make (or provide advisory for) informed decisions. It will also cover the technological tools available that can help you in mastering these financial data as a non-finance professional.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain key account terminologies, treatments and standards used in financial statements

  • Examine the characteristics and sectioning of financial statements

  • Interpret the balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and statements of shareholders' equity

  • Derive key ratios from the financial statements for insights about a company’s business

  • Analyse the key ratios derived to make informed decisions within job roles

Minimum Entry Requirement

​

  • 2 years of working experience in any sector; and

  • Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) 5 or equivalent

  • Proficient with the use of a Windows Laptop or Macbook

 

*Learners without the right WPLN or equivalent qualifications can be accepted if they have at least 3 years of relevant working experience in supervisory roles, subject to the MR’s approval.
